A university or college student needs to be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in order to excel academically in an environment where English is the predominant language of communication. The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is designed primarily to assess a student's accuracy in measuring their skills in Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening in order to prepare them for higher education in settings where English is the medium of instruction.
Students whose first language is not English must take the PTE exam in order to prove to institutions in English-speaking countries that they are proficient in the language. In order to help students succeed in classes and academic subjects at universities where English is the primary language of teaching, the test measures and properly identifies a student's level of English language competence. The PTE Academic results are used by educational institutions to determine an applicant's English language proficiency at the time of admission.
The world-renowned educational corporation Pearson is in charge of creating the PTE Academic exam, which measures a test taker's proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. The test development team that creates the PTE Academic Test is situated in multiple nations, including the US, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
The two-hour PTE Academic exam assesses a candidate's proficiency in all four areas of English language learning: speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
Apart from that, there are three primary components to the test. Both a broad overview and detailed instructions regarding the expectations for each section of the test are provided. There are sections inside each portion.
The following three parts are a part of the test:
Part 1: Speaking and Writing
This part consists of seven sections and lasts for 54-67 minutes. It tests your speaking and writing skills, using English you might hear in an academic environment.
Part 2: Reading
This part of the test is 29–30 minutes long and it contains five different question types. Because PTE Academic is an integrated skills test, one item type ('Reading and Writing: Fill in the blanks') also assesses writing skills.
Part 3: Listening
This part of the test is 30–43 minutes long and it contains eight different question types.
The questions are based on audio or video clips, which begin to play automatically. You hear each audio or video clip once. You are allowed to take notes.
